Tragedy strikes the Kennedy family again as granddaughter of RFK is found dead

The latest in a long series of terrible events

The granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy was found dead at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, reportedly from a drug overdose.

Early reports indicated that paramedics were called to the compound and discovered a deceased young woman, reportedly from a drug overdose.

22-year-old Saoirse Kennedy Hill was confirmed to be the woman, according to a statement from the Kennedy family.

"Our hearts are shattered by the loss of our beloved Saoirse," read the statement. "Her life was filled with hope, promise and love."

According to the New York Times, Hill had written about suffering from mental illness and deep depression.

"My depression took root in the beginning of my middle school years and will be with me for the rest of my life," Hill wrote in 2016. "When I'm in a really bad place, I do my best to surround myself with positive people and upbeat music, but too often it feels as if I'm drowning in my own thoughts, while everyone else seems to be breathing comfortably."

"The world is a little less beautiful today," said Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert F. Kennedy, in the statement.
