Jamie Foxx still hospitalized weeks after suffering unknown 'medical complication'

More than three weeks after suffering an unknown "medical complication," actor and musician Jamie Foxx, 55, remains in the hospital.

Corinne Foxx, Jamie's daughter, released a statement on Instagram on April 12 announcing that her father had experienced a medical emergency and asked fans for their prayers.

Corinne wrote, "From the Foxx Family: We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time. Much love, The Foxx Family."

At the time, Foxx was in Atlanta to work on the upcoming film "Back in Action." According to TMZ, a stunt and body double are currently filling in for Foxx while he recovers.

Two days after the reported incident, TMZ reported that sources stated Foxx was "doing a lot better" but that the medical emergency was "serious" and that "doctors still haven't gotten to the bottom of what happened."

According to the source, Foxx would have to stay in the hospital for "at least a few more days."

On Wednesday, the outlet confirmed that Jamie Foxx remains hospitalized. However, his family has not disclosed his exact condition.

Foxx fell ill days before he and Corrinne were scheduled to begin production on a new season of the music lyric game show "Beat Shazam."

The show announced Wednesday that Nick Cannon and Kelly Osbourne would fill in for Jamie and Corinne in the upcoming season.

"Everyone at FOX Entertainment wishes Jamie well as he continues his recovery, and we greatly appreciate Nick's willingness to jump in and help this summer," the statement read.

Prior to the show's announcement, Cannon told Entertainment Tonight that Foxx was "doing so much better."

"I was reluctant to go all the way there, and even talk about it, but he gave me the blessing, so it's a beautiful thing," Cannon stated last week. "He's awake. They say he's alert, so, we love it."

"I know he's doing so much better because I'm actually about to do something special for him, and doing him a favor," he added.

Foxx's friend and film producer Charles E. Alston, also known as Charlie Mack, asked fans on Tuesday to keep Foxx in their prayers.

"I need you all to constantly keep our beloved brotha @iamjamiefoxx up whom we all [love] & care for dearly in our Hearts, Minds & Prayers!!!! We need you back Bro. As I always state a true champion isn't the one that wins, it's the one that meets & overcomes adversity," Alston wrote.
