Newsom furiously accuses DeSantis of sending 36 illegal aliens to Sacramento and threatens kidnapping charges: 'You small, pathetic man'

Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom lashed out angrily against the governor of Florida after 36 illegal aliens arrived in Sacramento on two separate private flights.

Newsom called Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis a "small, pathetic man" in a tweet that implied the governor should be brought up on kidnapping charges.

"Every person who, being out of this state, abducts or takes by force or fraud any person contrary to the law of the place where that act is committed, and brings, sends, or conveys that person within the limits of this state, and is afterwards found within the limits thereof, is guilty of kidnapping," read the snippet of legal code Newsom attached to his tweet.

The migrants said that they were approached by a private contractor in El Paso, Texas, and told that they would be given jobs. When they arrived in Sacramento, the capital of California, they were left at a Roman Catholic church.

California officials said they believed that DeSantis may be responsible for the migrants being sent to Sacramento.

"We can confirm these individuals were in possession of documentation purporting to be from the government of the State of Florida," said California Attorney General Rob Bonta in a statement after the first group of migrants arrived.

Bonta went on to describe the incident as "state-sanctioned kidnapping" and called it "immoral and disgusting."

DeSantis, who is running for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, has not confirmed his involvement.

Newsom previously demanded that the federal government do something to alleviate the illegal immigration crisis after admitting that the burden of providing social services to illegals was damaging California financially.

DeSantis has previously earned the ire of Newsom, and he shot back one of his own insults after the California governor excoriated him for sending migrants to Martha's Vineyard.

"All I can say is I think his hair gel is interfering with his brain function," DeSantis joked in September in response.
