Scripture-quoting police officer goes viral for praying at school’s flagpole every day

Just the kind of men Americans need

A 40-year-old school resource officer is going viral for the care and attention he gives students every single day through prayer at the school's flagpole.

What are the details?

According to ABC News, DeAndra Warren — a seven-year member of the Wynne Police Department in Wynne, Arkansas — begins his day at his school's flagpole, faithfully praying over the school, its children, and the well-being of America.

Warren said he was moved to begin his day with prayer in 2015.

"I'd be on my patrol and just pray as I walk up and down the halls," he said. "One moment I just felt the urge to stop at the [flagpole] and start praying at the pole because of what it represents and with so many things that are going on in our nation."

According to WMC-TV, Warren added, "Because with the negativity in our world today towards our nation, law enforcement, communities and school systems, prayer is much [needed]."

Carl Easley — superintendent of Wynne Public Schools — says that Warren is a beloved fixture in the district.

"His character is always upbeat," Easley said. "Always pleasant. In the last couple of weeks, he has always shared some type of uplifting words with me. It's just part of his personality."

Warren, who has three children who have attended Wynne Public Schools, quotes scripture to demonstrate the faith he lives by.

"To see kids' faces light up when I give them a high-five, and I'm just trying to show them a positive light ... the positive side of law enforcement," he said. "Chronicles 7:14 says, 'If my people, which are called by name, humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will heal their land."

What else?

De'Andria Warren, 21, shared a photo of her father Saturday on Facebook, captioning it:

Often you don't see an officer on school grounds at the flag pole praying for our children! I know this amazing Man of God who prays for our school systems, your children, and our community every day faithfully! This outstanding man is my dad and I'm so proud to be his daughter! There's not too many people out here in this world like him! Officer Warren we are so thankful for you!

At the time of this writing, De'Andria's post has received more than 800 likes.

"I felt like I just had to make a post, considering the impact that my dad has on all the kids, including the teenagers," she said. "Kids come up to me and say, 'Oh, you're Officer Warren's daughter? We love him!' and it brings me so much joy. It's like 'Wow, my dad is doing something to make an impact on all these people.'"
