Trans teacher who allegedly threatened to shoot students was told 'therapy is not gonna work for you'

A transgender Florida teacher who allegedly threatened to shoot students told authorities that a therapist stated, "Therapy is not gonna work for you," according to police dashcam footage obtained by Moms for Liberty in Hernando County, Florida.

What's the background?

Alexander Renczkowski, a biological male who identifies as a woman, was removed from Fox Chapel Middle School after parents learned the math teacher had "wanted to shoot some students due to them not performing to their ability."

While school officials filed an incident report regarding the teacher's alleged threats and suicidal thoughts, they failed to notify parents.

As a result of the school's incident report and Renczkowski informing police officers that he was having "bad thoughts," three firearms and ammunition were confiscated from the teacher's home.

After the district conducted a mental health assessment, Renczkowski was allowed to return to the classroom the day after making the threatening comments. The educator continued teaching for weeks until parents learned about the incident through a local reporter who broke the story.

More than two weeks after the threatening remarks, Fox Chapel Principal Carmine Rufa released a statement to parents.

"While the teacher in question did make a comment to colleagues that was concerning," Rufa reportedly said, "staff and law enforcement determined the comment was not an imminent threat to the campus, but was instead an expression of frustration at student behavior."

However, after mounting pressure from parents and in light of "details, not previously known," Superintendent John Stratton removed Renczkowski from the school.

'Therapy is not gonna work.'

Police dashcam footage obtained by Moms for Liberty captured officers' conversation with Renczkowski regarding the alleged remarks.

When officers asked the teacher about seeing a therapist, Renczkowski explained that an appointment was scheduled with a new therapist.

"My first one [therapist] was not that good, telling me that 'therapy is not gonna work for you,'" the teacher stated in the video.

Monty Floyd of Moms for Liberty told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the newly released police dashcam footage is "very troubling" and raises "a lot of serious questions."

"The prior cover-up, the mishandling of this incident, and the continued efforts of the school board and union to bury this, intimidate parents, and flat-out lie to the public has all but wiped out public trust among a majority of parents in our school district," Floyd stated.
