Germany has announced the integration of Czech and Romanian divisions into its own forces, alluding to a possible European Union army.
The Bundeswehr, Germany's unified armed forces, will absorb Romania's 81st Mechanized Brigade and the Czech Republic's 4th Rapid Deployment Brigade. Two Dutch brigades have already joined the Bundeswehr's Rapid Response Forces Division and the 1st Armored Division.
This international Bundeswehr-led force is meant to avoid the controversial military expansion that Germans have become uneasy with while adding to the security of the European Union.
