Susan Rice's email raises questions about Obama's part in Russiagate. Here's what it said
February 15, 2018
Former Obama administration national security adviser, Susan Rice, is being questioned by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) regarding an “odd and disturbing” email she sent sent to herself on President Donald Trump’s inauguration day.
Remind me about the email
Rice's email documents a high-level meeting that took place on Jan. 5, 2017, with President Barack Obama and several members of the intelligence community, during which Obama stressed that he was committed to a “by the book” investigation into Russian election-hacking ... several times over.
The email raises a number of questions. First, why would Rice send an email to herself -- regarding a meeting that took place weeks earlier -- on the day Trump was sworn into office? In fact, the email was sent about 25 minutes after Obama and his team, including Rice, were officially out of the White House.
Also, why would Obama go out of his way to tell the FBI to conduct their investigation “by the book”? Shouldn’t the FBI’s investigations always done by the book?
The plot thickens...
Curiously, on the exact same day that Obama was supposedly directing his team to play "by the book," NBC received leaked information about Russia investigation by "two top intelligence officials with direct knowledge."
"Did those two top intelligence officials simply not hear what Obama said?" Glenn asked on the show. "Did they take his comments another way? Or did Obama actually tell them to do something altogether different? Well, Susan Rice was very clear - he said it twice, 'by the book.'"
Then on Jan. 10, 2017, the full Steele dossier was leaked. We now know that the dossier was paid for by Hillary Clinton and the DNC, and then used by the FBI and DNC to request a FISA surveillance warrant to spy on then-candidate Trump. Get the details on the FISA fiasco here.
And then here was that NYT story
Glenn recalled a story in the New York Times dated March 1, 2017, which revealed that parts of the Obama administration were purposely inserting information into meetings and documents that they knew would be archived.
"Was the 'insurance policy' actually a coordinated leak operation of opposition research bought and paid for by the Hillary Clinton and DNC campaign?" asked Glenn. "Was the email from Susan Rice a last-ditch effort at covering their tracks?"
