New York Gov. Cuomo pardons illegals with criminal histories facing deportation

When you're living in the twilight zone, this is just another Wednesday. We say this because uber-liberal New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, just pardoned seven illegal immigrants with a lengthy rap sheet.

He's up for reelection coincidentally and he's routinely taken digs at the Trump administration's immigration policies, specifically the president's "zero-tolerance" policy which resulted in immigrant children stranded at the U.S. border.

“At a time when President Trump and the Federal government are waging a war on our immigrant communities, New York stands firm in our belief that our diversity is our greatest strength,” said the governor in a statement.

“While President Trump engages in policies that rip children out of the arms of their mothers and tries to ramp up the deportation of New Yorkers to advance his political agenda of hate and division, we will protect our immigrant communities,” he affirmed.

“With the Statue of Liberty in our harbor, New York will always stand against the hate coming out of Washington and instead serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for all.”

The convictions of the seven illegal immigrants he pardoned include low-level assault, identity theft, petty larceny, possession of stolen property, and the criminal sale of a controlled substance. Cuomo justified the pardons by highlighting that fact that all seven individuals had been "crime-free" and productive members in their community for a "substantial period" of time.
