On Monday's radio program, Glenn Beck and Stu Burguiere talked about the radical new Denver city council member who is pushing for "community ownership of land, labor and resources" and said she's "excited to usher it in by any means necessary."
Newly elected Denver City Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca said she doesn't believe capitalism "actually works" and, while she calls herself a democratic socialist, is strongly advocating communism. Read more here.
"Capitalism by design is extractive and in order to generate profit in a capitalist system something has to be exploited — that's land, labor, or resources," she said. "And I think that we're in late-phase capitalism, and we know it doesn't work, and we've gotta move into something new, and I believe in community ownership of land, labor, resources, and distribution of those resources. And so whatever that morphs into I think is what will serve community the best, and I'm excited to usher it in by any means necessary."
Glenn played an audio clip of CdeBaca's speech.
"She said 'whatever it's morphed into,' so far that's 100 million dead. So that 'morphing' was kinda problematic for me," Stu said in reaction to the clip. "I do not think that capitalism has failed. And we've talked about these numbers so many times. Billions of people ripped out of poverty by this system, since we've been alive.... Go back to the 1990s, billions of people extracted from poverty because of this system she wants to close. It's not a good look."
"That's absolutely unbelievable," Glenn said. "You know, it used to be said that the people who had the most to lose did the least to save it. It is now those with the most to lose who are doing the most to lose it. Our nation is filled with people who are either in denial ... or they are actively involved in it. I mean, they are telling you what they want to do.
"Nobody young has learned about the Soviet Union, [or] has learned about the socialist experiments," Glenn added. "These are experiments!"
