FDNY reinstates hunky firemen calendar to help budget shortfalls

Attention ladies: New York's bravest need your help.

The New York City Fire Department will officially reintroduce its calendar of shirtless firemen in 2012, but as Gawker points out, money raised from calendar sales will no longer go to charity as it used to. Instead, proceeds from the beefcake calendar will go to support the cash-strapped fire department itself.

The FDNY had discontinued its annual calendar in 2008 after discovering that one of its pin-ups had starred in an, er, adult film. The so-called "Calendar of Heroes" is estimated to bring in an additional $300,000 in revenue and will help buy equipment for firehouses around the city.
