A 40-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection to the anti-Semitic graffiti that was found spray-painted on property in Queens last weekend, including swastikas on two braches of the Queens Library and the door of a Queens synagogue.
NY1 reports that Franco Rodriguez was identified via video surveillance, and police say he made statements incriminating himself in four of the five incidents. Rodriguez was arraigned Saturday on hate crimes charges, and is being held on $5,000 bail.
The anti-Semitic graffiti ignited disgust and anger within the diverse Jackson Heights and Elmhurst communities. NY1 reports that students rallied Wednesday against the hateful messages:
