"I want to take this progressive, leftist critique head on."

In this brand-new trailer for "America," filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza quotes classical political theorist Edmund Burke, saying that "true patriotism" means loving your country not because it's yours, but because "it's good."

D'Souza adds that his driving force behind "America" is taking on the progressive, liberal point of view that the U.S. is based on theft and plunder and then debunking that perspective.

"I want to take this progressive, leftist critique head on," D'Souza adds.

The movie will include re-creations of some of the major events in American history, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"America" is set to release around July 4 this year:
