Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson’s Wife Accuses Him of Assault During Visit With Kids

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) is accused of assaulting his wife while attempting to visit his children, according to a police report obtained by WESH-TV. The couple is currently going through a divorce.

Though the police report is almost completely redacted, it was revealed that one of Grayson’s staffers was present at the time of the alleged assault.

Grayson is accused of pushing his wife against a door at their Florida home, causing her to fall to the ground, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

A spokesman denied the allegations on the congressman’s behalf in a statement and alleged it was actually Ms. Grayson who physically attacked her soon-to-be ex-husband.

"Congressman Grayson firmly denies Ms. Grayson's frivolous accusations. Witnesses at the scene during the time in question also reject Ms. Grayson's version of events as an outright lie. Sadly, it was Ms. Grayson who physically attacked the Congressman as he attempted to visit with his children. He did not respond to Ms. Grayson's violent assault," the statement said.

The statement also alleges that Ms. Grayson’s “behavior has become increasingly erratic” since she filed for divorce.

“Despite Ms. Grayson's attempt to drag the family's personal affairs into the public, Congressman Grayson would like to emphasize that this is a private family matter,” it adds.
