“He identified himself.”

An individual suspected in as many as 100 burglaries and considered armed and dangerous attempted to turn himself in last week, but left after no one came to get him. “He went to the front window,” said Capt Robin Faille, the Yolo County’s detention commander. “He identified himself.”

According to KOVR-TV, Mario Lopez was told by a jail clerk that someone would be right out to take him into custody. He waited five minutes. Ten minutes. Finally, after nearly fifteen minutes, he had second thoughts and left.

Lopez, who is 5 foot 11 inches and weighing 180 pounds, is suspected in committing a string of robberies over the past two months. According to Fallie, officers couldn't immediately book Lopez because a new shift was beginning, which resulted in a lack of available officers available for the task. She added that the jail has reevaluated its booking policies to prioritize certain arrests.
