Pictures of Kids Holding Their Bibles Are Lighting Up Twitter — Here's Why

Students across America are bringing their Bibles to school today as part of a nationwide effort spearheaded by Focus on the Family, a Christian organization.

The group launched "Bring Your Bible to School Day" last year to "encourage public school students from kindergarten to college to express their faith freely," and the one-day event appears to be growing exponentially this year, with an expected 100,000 participants.

The 2014 event attracted an estimated 8,000 participants.

Twitter was lighting up on Thursday morning with the hashtag #BringYourBible featuring photos of children and adults who are bringing their Bibles to school in an effort to stand up for their Christian faith.
