Amazon is listening to you
Amazon admitted to employing thousands of people to listen in on private conversations using the Alexa digital assistant that is pre-installed on the Amazon Echo speaker line, a fact that, according to Pat, had inched us closer to George Orwell's "1984" nightmare.
Amazon has tasked people with the job of transcribing recordings pulled from Echo customers' homes and offices. According to Bloomberg, the report stated that a single employee will listen to as many as 1,000 clips per shift, which Amazon claimed is nothing considering the tens of millions who own the Echo systems.
"So many people are going to say they don't care... things can go bad very quickly," Pat said.
