NFL tight end Benjamin Watson sat down with Glenn Beck and the guys to talk about his upcoming book, "The New Dad’s Playbook: Gearing Up for the Biggest Game of Your Life."
A dad to five, Watson wrote the "playbook" to help new dads learn the ropes. It includes “everything from ‘areola’ to ‘zygote,’” with Watson tapping into his own experience as a husband and a father to write it.
On the show, he talked about the inspiration for the book and what he hoped new dads would take away from it:
“[My wife has] been wanting me to write this book for a while, as a handbook to help dads through pregnancy and supporting their wives, the mother of their children, through this process. When I had my first child … I didn’t know what I was getting into. I didn’t know what to do when my wife had morning sickness. I didn’t know what to do when we went to the OB, and he’s checking for the heartbeat.”
A professing Christian who talks about living out his faith, Watson hoped to do his part to encourage husbands and fathers, especially in a world where too many kids grow up without their dad:
“My goal is to educate guys, but also to empower and encourage them that they can do it.”
