OJ Syndrome': Twitter, Pundits and TheBlaze Readers React to George Zimmerman's Arrest

"It's past the time when you should have grown up..."

It was a high-profile arrest that seemed to shock virtually nobody.

The news that George Zimmerman had been arrested Friday night and charged with domestic violence — apparently for chucking a bottle of wine at his girlfriend — left many people shaking their heads Saturday morning.

Mediaite's Joe Concha declared Zimmerman to be "offically O.J. Simpson 2.0" — a guy who many thought "got away with murder" but then couldn't stay out of trouble afterwards.

TheBlaze readers seemed to largely agree.

Magyar:

It’s the OJ syndrome— Bound and determined to get arrested. Georgie should count his blessings, shut up and disappear into the woodwork for his own good.

MindTheGOP:

I said from the begining that Zimmerman/Martin is what happens when two idiots cross paths….Ya’ll didnt want to hear it at the time but looks like i was correct.

I_StateYourName_:

c’mon man……….its past the time when you should have grown up…………….

For many Twitter users, the incident was an opportunity to vent their frustrations, calling Zimmerman a "creep" and decrying the state of policing and race relations in the U.S.
